I The New Fokka sono un esordiente gruppo arzignanese che ieri sera, per la prima volta, ha organizzato una indoor session (o house concert, chiamatelo un po’ con l’anglicismo che preferite) condita di ottimo rock e pop d’autore: la band vicentina è formata da Alessio De Marzi (voce), Marco Bettega (chitarra acustica e seconda voce), Carmelo Manzella (chitarra elettrica) e Antonio Barin (basso).
La ricca scaletta della Indoor Session, composta da ben 18 pezzi, ha incluso brani dei The Smiths, Ed Sheeran, Mumford & Sons, Bob Dylan, oltre al loro primo inedito Burn me, scritto da De Marzi e “tradotto in musica” dagli altri membri dei The New Fokka: come già ho detto la prima volta che li avevo sentiti, il loro punto di forza sta nello scegliere belle canzoni, rimaneggiandole e sperimentando originali mash-up (vedi Come together/Lose Yourself), riuscendo in questo modo a smarcarsi dallo stereotipo delle classiche band di provincia che ti fanno sanguinare le orecchie con scarse cover dei Metallica. La scelta di questo stile più “intimo” è stata indubbiamente la migliore sorpresa che avrebbero potuto farmi, essendo io un estimatore di sessioni acustiche.
