Shawn Mendes è il trionfatore (ancora una volta) degli MTV Europe Music Awards 2017. L’artista canadese ha battuto la concorrenza (su tutti, la nominatissima Taylor Swift) portandosi a casa un totale di quattro statuette fra cui quella come Miglior Artista e Miglior Canzone (There’s nothing holdin’ me back). Tutti gli altri nominati, da Ed Sheeran a Kendrick Lamar, si sono dovuti accontentare delle briciole.

La serata, organizzata alla SSE Arena di Wembley, a Londra, è stata condotta da una Rita Ora più in forma che mai: l’artista di origini albanesi è infatti stata anche una delle performers della serata e ha cantato un medley dei due pezzi Your Song e Anywhere.
GLI MTV EMA 2017 di Londra sono stati impreziositi dalle esibizioni live, fra gli altri, di Camila Cabello, dello stesso Mendes, dei The Killers, di Travis Scott, David Guetta e di Eminem, che ha presentato in anteprima il singolo Walk on water con Skylar Grey. Premio speciale agli U2: la band di Bono, che ieri sera a Trafalgar Square ha tenuto uno speciale live gratuito, ha ricevuto il prestigioso Global Icon Award.
